Russia project

Please read this link ONE and open this article TWO

  1. How would you write a reference for your social studies text book
  2. How would you write a reference for a wikipedia article
You are asked to remember that when you write your social studies project you will need to reference works you have consulted in this way. DO NOT put something in your own words without giving a reference as you will be committing plagiarism- the attempt to show someones work as your own.

You will be given your person that you should research now. the first thing you should do is read as many sources as you can about this person and make notes. Remember that you must keep a record of where you found the information as this will be vital for your referencing.

footnote referencing system

For social studies in 7th and 8th grade you will be required to use a very simple form of referencing. When you are writing and you want to quote someone like this " blah blah blah" of if you are talking about an idea that you read somewhere you need to add a footnote.

To do this in word go to Insert/Reference/Footnote
You will then have a small number inside the text and this is linked to a space at the bottom of the page.

In the space at the bottom of the page you can put the source that you got this information from. If it is a website put the Address e.g. http://www.pyongyang-metro.com/. If it is a book put the author, year of publication (you will find this on the inside cover of the book) and title e.g. Shakespeare, William (1970) 'Romeo and Juliet'

8th Grade Project

From the countries we have looked at - i.e. China, Japan, South or North Korea - you must decide on an aspect you would like to investigate and agree this with me. You will then have to research and write a report on this aspect. Bellow are listed some links that may help you to think of some ideas. N.B some of these may be biased!!!
